Cleft Lip & Palate Support – through New Lifeline
In the UK one in every six hundred babies suffers from CLEFT LIP or PALATE and has the full support of the NHS.
In GUATEMALA, one in every hundred babies is born with a cleft lip or palate with no free healthcare available. Babies with cleft lip or palate in Guatemala are sadly dying of starvation as they are unable to be fed by their mother’s breast milk; due to not being able to latch on.
The cost of a feeding bottle that a cleft baby can use is cost prohibitive at £15.00 each.
Nomadic Thoughts has been delighted to support New Lifeline’s appeal.
MALNUTRITION in GUATEMALA – According to the World Food Programme, the chronic under nutrition rate for children under 5 is 49.8 percent, the highest in the region and the fourth highest in the world.
Guatemala is one of the 36 countries which account for 90 percent of growth stunting in the world. New Lifeline’s Partner, Semilla Nueva have helped over 27,000 people across Guatemala who are now benefiting from the nutrition of Quality Protein Maize, Fortaleza SuperCriollo – and are saving the seed to plant harvest after harvest for generations to come.
£10.00 can purchase a bag of Quality Protein Maize, Fortaleza SuperCriollo reusable seed which will be enough to feed a family for life.
New Lifeline are taking donations to provide seeds to families to grow corn and to help end malnutrition. Whilst Nomadic Thoughts is delighted to continue helping with New Lifeline’s project, as is making a specific donation to these causes this Christmas, if you would like further information, or to make a personal donation, please do see New Lifeline.
